Vicenza Summer Festival Workshops

Teaching a movement laboratory in which I focus on tools to create a personalised movement language.

The informed body.

How do you generate movement through improvisation? As a dance artist you are often asked to physically investigate a theme or idea and translate this idea into abstract form through an improvisation. The choreographer needs your authentic search and resonance with his content to be able to use you as an extension of his artistry. I personally have a love for movement that reveals meaning mixed with abstract virtuosity. In this workshop we will look into the proces of creating abstract, virtuous movement that clearly is informed on and resonates with a concrete theme. How do you generate movement that is charged with meaning but not illustrative, that is virtuoso but not an empty shape moving onwards? We will work on strengthening the understanding of how to use your physical skills, your habits, personal preferences and your limitations to your advantage.
